Parent Involvement
The overall success of Ankara English Preschool is based on the partnership between the teachers, the children and their parents. Parents are always welcome here. We work together to provide our children the highest possible standard of education and guidance, so that they will:
- develop a sense of security and trust,
- learn desirable habits and ways of behaving,
- become self-directed and independent,
- learn to express their emotions, thoughts and ideas,
- develop physical, social, emotional and intellectual abilities,
- learn to work alone and with others,
- share and take turns,
- explore abilities and interests,
- develop a caring attitude toward other people,
- and respect themselves and others.
Early childhood education programs supplement, not substitute for, the efforts that parents expend. We believe that parents have a great potential that they can offer their child, the teacher and the school, if they are encouraged to contribute. So this makes a parent’s role very crucial when involving them in the early childhood program.
Ankara English Preschool's main policies in communicating with parents of young children are:
- Accepting parents as they are,
- Looking for their strengths,
- Getting acquainted with them,
- Developing a respectful and cooperative relationship,
- Encouraging parents to share in decisions regarding their child,
- Believing that parents are great resources for teachers, children and other families.
Ankara English Preschool parents are involved in our school program through:
- parent / teacher meetings and coffee times every two-months, from October till June, where we would expect all our parents to attend these meetings,
- numerous short conferences held over telephone or at the time of pick up,
- individual meetings held by Mrs. Banu Engiz and the group teacher,
- parent-child workshops, cooking days, volunteer-works, special events like parties, end of year shows and family picnics.
